NAKAMURA KOJI

中村浩二

Nakamura Koji is an artisanal broom maker. He learned the vernacular method of hemp-palm (shuro) broom making from his grandfather. That was the life in the mountain area in southern Japan where he grew up and lives, farms his land and hunts wild animals as a seasonal profession.

To make very best of the kind, Nakamura carefully selects shuro fibre so that his brooms be durable and last longer, as well as paying a detailed attention to make them both functional and beautiful. The bamboo canes he uses are sustainably grown by himself.
